
Mr Dinsha J Patel union mine minister said that "I had heard a lot about Hindustan Zinc, today I saw it too.” He continued that May be I am staying far in Delhi but Hindustan Zinc is close to my heart.
Mr Dinsha Patel union mine minister along with Mr SK Srivastava additional Secretary, ministry of mines government of India; Mr BL Bagra CMD NALCO and PS to Hon'ble Minister, Mr Puneet Kansal paid a visit to the Rajpura Dariba Complex of Hindustan Zinc. The delegation visited the smelter and also the underground mines at Rajpura Dariba.
While addressing the employees of Hindustan Zinc, Mr Patel commended the contribution of Hindustan Zinc in metals and mining industry. He was also amazed the way the company has grown. The Minister was full praise of Hindustan Zinc when he saw a large number of young employees, including female employees working at the mines and the smelting complex. He said the future of India lies with youth and all youth employed in Hindustan Zinc should ensure that the company achieves newer heights.
He said that "I am proud that Hindustan Zinc has positioned the name of India strong on global metals and mining map.”
Mr Akhilesh Joshi COO of Hindustan Zinc informed the minister that since disinvestment Hindustan Zinc has grown five fold, from 200,000 tonne to over 1 million tonne. To achieve this distinction Hindustan Zinc has invested about 12,000 crore. Today Rampura Agucha mine at Bhilwara is world's largest zinc producing mine and the smelting complex at Chanderiya at Chittorgarh is also one of the world's largest single location zinc smelting complex. Our plants run on captive thermal power plants and we are also producing 275 MW of green energy in Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Mr Joshi informed that being India's only integrated producer of zinc-lead, Hindustan Zinc governs above 85% of growing zinc market in India. The company is also the largest silver producer in India and on its way towards global positioning when the company's achieves its target of producing 500 tonnes of silver.
