Over the last decade the use of steel framing in home building has continued to grow, particularly in markets like Hawaii, California and Florida. Hawaii remains the leading state in the nation to utilize steel-framed housing with 70 per cent of the market share. This is mainly because steel framing can be designed to withstand hurricane-force winds up to 140 miles, cannot be eaten by termites and will not provide food for mold. Steel won’t burn, warp, crack, or split, giving homeowners straight, square walls without unsightly nail pops.
Key topics under discussion in the conference
1. Informative presentation on advancements in steel framed homes
2. New research on steel framing performance.
3. Design standards and an executive track which will focus on two-pronged areas of innovations in steel technology and industry competitiveness
