The 4th Annual Asia Steel 2009
SteelGuru as official media partner is proud to present “The 4th Annual Asia Steel 2009” which is organized by Metal Business Forum on 13th to 14th January 2009 at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Singapore.
Asia Steel 2009 is a very appropriate event even if there is a down turn in the financial resource available in this part of the world.
According to Dr. Amit Chatterjee, Advisor to the Managing Director of Tata Steel India, “Though India’s rated growth may have come down from 9-10% to 8-9%, for the next couple of years, India’s plans to produce 180-200 Mt of steel by 2020 is progressing well. Certainly across Asia, steel is in the growth phase, even if this is not always in harmony with economic growth for the nation as a whole. With China becoming a major exporter of steel, at the same time reducing exports of coke/coking coal, a dramatic change in steel trade is anticipated”. It is inevitable that Asia is at the forefront of the Global Steel Market and stakeholders of the industry need to be kept abreast with the latest developments in this region.
Asia’s biggest concern is slowdown in demand, steel capacity developments in India and China, production dynamics in China and the possible slowdown in China’s steel consumption leading to a surge of steel into Asian countries. The Chinese government proposal to cancel its tax rebate and/or raise steel export tariffs might have key implications for Asian steel producers.
With these developments in mind, Asia Business Forum has gathered a truly international team of steel experts to tackle the major steel issues in this region and provide solid answers and effective solutions to major key players who intend to stay ahead of time. Besides China and India, this unique event will also provide an insight into the steel opportunities in ASEAN and the role South East Asia can play in the global steel market. Obtain valuable expert advice on the future cost concerns to the industry in its response to climate change and find out how steel futures will have an impact on the industry.
