Mr Jitendra Choudhury minister for department of industry and commerce government of Tripura at 'ICC National Conference in Oil and Gas' said that “Tripura is going to be the power exporter to its neighboring states and countries.”
Mr Partha Chatterjee minister of commerce & industries, from West Bengal at the Conference said that "The government of West Bengal introduced Renewable Energy Policy aimed at optimum utilisation of wind, solar and biomass energy as sustainable energy resources, for aiding existing and upcoming industries.”
Addressing the gathering at the conference, Mr Chatterjee said that oil and gas industries, the major drivers of the industry and agricultural sector of a country, needs to be provided with support system for growth, development, affordability and sustainability.
India imports significant amount of oil products from foreign countries due to the fact that growth of consumption of commercial energy is 2.6% but expected supply growth in 2012-13 will be 1%.
Alongside, depleting fossil fuel reserves in the eastern and southern belt of the country calls for use of high end technologies, innovative measures and exercising financial resources optimally, advocated Chatterjee during his address.
He said that West Bengal Government is committed to take all steps to ensure availability of affordable energy resources for aiding the existing industry bodies.
Renewable energy policy will be tabled by the state government in near future, which will emphasise on optimal use of wind, solar and biomass energy as sustainable energy resources. He encouraged all stakeholders belonging to the sector to invest in the state and share proposals with the commerce ministry, which can be materialised in future.
Mr Chatterjee said that the state is willing to provide full support to the willing investors. Industry development proposals of Essar Oil and GAIL are in progress, which are expected to generate not only conducive investment environment for the state but also will help in employment generation.
Due to full-fledged functioning of Single Window System in the state, investors pan sector won't face trouble in terms of application and processing of forms and documents, hoped the Commerce & Industries Minister of West Bengal.
Tripura is richly endowed with huge reserves of natural gas, of which a significant amount is still untapped and unexplored, said Choudhury the minister of industry and commerce, from Tripura.
With two new mega power projects coming up in Tripura, the state is expected to lead a crucial role in generation and supply of power to its neighbouring north eastern states and neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Nepal and Myanmar.
