Times Of India reported that Akhil Jharkhand Shramik Sangh, the trade union wing of AJSU Party, has stopped dispatch of refractories from the Steel Authority of India Limited to all steel plants.

The AJSS has even threatened to stop the production in the plant if the demand for regularization of 119 casual workers is not met. The Sangh has launched the agitation after the company recently decided to regularize only 20 casual workers.

AJSS secretary Devendra Prasad alleged that verdict of Industrial Tribunal was violated by the SAIL management and gave permanent jobs to only 20 workers whereas 119 casual workers were to be absorbed.

Meanwhile, SAIL refractories unit general manager E Kujur said the company's board had approved the regularization of 78 casual workers engaged in the refractories unit following the Industrial Tribunal's verdict but 58 casual workers refused to appear in the medical test held at Bokaro General Hospital. The GM said that "All the 20 people who appeared for the medical test have been given appointment letter.”

Refractories dispatch to Bokaro, Bhilai, Rourkela and Burnpur steel plants of SAIL has stopped due to agitation. The agitation is likely to hit production of the steel plants.
