The Andhra Pradesh government has offered to allot land to the TATA Group for setting up a Corus steel unit in the state, either at Anantapur or Kadapa with rail connectivity to Bellary iron ore mines and the Krishnapatnam port.
Mr K Rosaiah chief minister of Andhra Pradesh made the offer to TATA group chairman Mr Ratan Tata on Sunday during a one to one meeting at Adibhatla special economic zone where the TATAs launched their first Sikrosky S-92 helicopter cabin.
Mr Rosaiah told Ratan Tata that since the proposed Corus plant at Orissa was getting delayed, he might consider his offer to set up the unit in the state.
He also suggested that TATA might consider to set up a Nano car unit in the state in view of the growing automobile market. He said the TATAs had in the past surveyed land for locating their unit.
Among other proposals put forward was the one to set up a chemical project in the petrochemical investment region between Visakhapatnam and Kakinada.
