
BS reported that BPCL Kochi Refinery is all set to receive the mega main reactor for its new vacuum gas oil hydro desulphurization unit. The new unit is coming up as part of the capacity expansion and modernization project that is slated for completion in December 2009.
Fabricated and manufactured by China Forging Heavy Industries, Dalain, under the supervision of China Petroleum Technical Development Corporation, the reactor is scheduled to arrive at the Cochin port on May 18th.
The reactor that weighs around 725 tonne is one of the heaviest machineries being transported in a single piece to India.
Enquiries for the reactor were floated on a global basis in which around 7 reactor manufacturing companies participated. L&T was the only Indian manufacturer in the bidding process.
