
The financial bids for the proposed 1,320 MW thermal power plant at Rajpura in Punjab is likely to be decided shortly and sent to the Punjab State Electricity Board for approval.
According to sources, around seven companies including Adani Power, L&T, Lanco Infra, GMR, Welspun, JSW Power and Alliance Hydro of Emtec Group had submitted their bids for the thermal plant.
The power plant with two units of 660 MW is to be awarded to a developer on BOO basis through tariff-based international competitive bidding. LOI of this plant is expected to be issued by end-November 2009. About 1,078 acre has already been acquired and all statutory clearances are in place for the project.
Unit I is expected to be commissioned by September 2013 and Unit II in January 2014.
