It is reported that Himachal Pradesh High Court has ordered the cancellation of two hydropower projects of 480 MW each on river Satluj allotted to Netherlands based Brakel Corporation NV in 2006, in response to a petition file by Reliance Infrastructure.
Reliance Infrastructure which was one of the bidders for the projects, had alleged that Brakel was not qualified to participate in the tender because it had no consortium partners and, in fact, was a company incorporated with USD 1 as capital.
The court has also directed the state government to choose other eligible bidders from the last tender floated by the government or call for fresh bids.
The DPR for the plants was already done. The estimated cost of the two projects was INR 8,000 crore and it was to be completed in five years from the date of allotment.
