Coal India said the company's board of directors has approved the appointment of M Viswanathan as Company Secretary.

The company in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange said that "The board of directors of the company... has approved the appointment of M Viswanathan... as Company Secretary of Coal India Ltd with immediate effect.”

The decision was take at a board meeting held on Wednesday

The board also gave its approval to appoint Viswanathan as compliance officer of the public sector firm.
