BL reported that the Centre for Indian Trade Unions has urged that the government should allot captive iron ore mines to the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
Mr MK Pandhe president of CITU while addressing the workers of the steel plant exhorted them to exert pressure on the state government and to promote awareness among the public on the vital issue.
He said the iron ore requirement of the Vizag Steel would go up further after the completion of the expansion project and the AP Government should, therefore, take a decision immediately.
He said “It is regrettable that the AP Government had chosen to allot iron ore to Brahmani Steel, yet to be established, from the Obulapuram iron ore mines in Anantapur district, ignoring the claims of the public sector Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.”
