
Private power player CLP India said that it plans to enhance its wind power portfolio by 200 to 300 MW every year over the next three years and is besides mulling an entry into solar power in the next two years.
The official said that CLP India which owns and operates a 655-MW gas power plant near Bharuch in Gujarat, has already obtained approval to expand this by 1,000 MW and is presently awaiting allocation of gas for the project.
Mr Rajiv Mishra MD of CLP India said that "Our plan is to increase our wind energy portfolio by 200 to 300 MW every year over the next three-years. We are also mulling an entry into solar power in the next year or two.”
The company announced its decision to develop two new wind farms in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh of 102.4 MW and 50.4 MW respectively.
CLP has entered into agreements with major wind-turbine manufacturer Enercon India to develop the Greenfield projects.
Mr Mishra said that "With these two, our total wind portfolio will rise to close to 640 MW.”
While he would not quantify the investment in the two projects, Mishra said normally it costs between USD 1.1-1.3 million for 1-MW wind power.
Mr Mishra said that The company is also interested in solar power and could enter the segment going forward.
