US based mining and construction equipment company Caterpillar plans to double its capacity at its truck manufacturing plant in Chennai.

As per reports the company is planning to invest USD 700 million over the next four years in a bid to start production of mining shovels and expand output of trucks at plants in Chennai and Illinois.

The company plans to increase capacity for 60 tonne and 100 tonne trucks at its facility near Chennai which is expected to be completed by early 2012.
