
It is reported that Mr SS Beriwala president of Merchants Chamber of Commerce called on the West Bengal Governor and submitted a memorandum drawing his attention to certain key issues facing the State.
The issues, as contained in the memorandum, included scarcity of land for setting up industrial projects, absence of firm coal and iron ore linkages for steel units of the State, skyrocketing of the prices of essential items and the drop in the production of vegetable, oil seeds and fruits, virtual stagnation in electricity generation capacity, several problems facing the SMEs in the State, absence of proper disaster management system and, capping it all, critical law and order situation.
