TNN reported that the three subsidiaries of Coal India Limited Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) suffered a cumulative loss of around INR 10 crore due to the strike by workers in support of their demand for higher bonus on Monday.
Over 150,000 workers stayed away from work to protest the unilateral decision of CIL and its subsidiaries to pay INR 17,000 as bonus against the demand of INR 25,000 by workers.
Sources in coal companies said mining and dispatch in all the collieries in the state were badly hit.
CIL and its subsidiary companies have even deposited the amount in the bank account of the workers.
