To promote the export of Diesel Locomotives and securing a niche in the International market, a most modern, new type 3000 HP, Cape Gauge diesel locomotive manufactured by Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi, production unit of Indian Railways has been dispatched to Mozambique. This is the first ever 3000 HP locomotive built in DLW for cape gauge.

However, this locomotive is equipped with latest technology and having several special features. It is lightweight superstructure designed locomotive having 18.5 tonne axle load and equipped with 16 cylinder 4 stroke diesel engine, microprocessor control system for heavy hauling capacity, excitation, propulsion control and wheel creep.

The locomotive has two ergonomically modified designed control desk in driver cabin and having air conditioner, refrigerator, inverter, hot plate and other amenities for driver’s comfort. Due to high level performance of its locomotives and warranty support, the demand of DLW’s locos have been surged up in the world market.

By manufacturing the state of the art locomotives, suiting the geographical background and climatic conditions of the purchaser countries, DLW has been receiving export orders from various countries.
