
The Rajasthan Government is likely to rope in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for the construction of the metro rail for Jaipur in Rajasthan. An agreement to this effect is expected to be signed on August 5th 2010. The estimated cost of the project is to be 1, 250 crore.
DMRC is likely to be taking up the civil construction including the track work (Permanent Way), construction of the metro maintenance depot, arrangement for traction and power supply, etc as per the agreement. The implementation time for the project is only three years and seven months after signing the agreement.
Initially, a 9.25 kilometer long Metro corridor between Mansarovar and Chand Pole consisting of eight elevated and one underground station is likely to be constructed by DMRC.
The elevated section is expected to be 8.77 kilometers long and is to consist of the following stations: Mansarovar, New Atish Market, Vivek Vihar, Shyam Nagar, Ram Nagar, Civil Lines, Railway Station and Sindhi Camp. The underground section is likely to be only 0.473 kilometers in length and it is to have only one station namely Chand Pole.
