PTI reported that Damodar Valley Corporation will hire a global consultant to chalk out a future roadmap for the company.
Mr RN Sen chairman of DVC said that "We are in the process of selecting a global standard consultant who will give us a long term plan.”
He said the corporation will take about a month to finalise and a report can expected seven months from now. Both houses of Parliament had cleared amendments for restructuring of the DVC board.
Mr Sen said after the restructuring, strength of the board will increase to 10 from six now. There will be three full time directors, three part time directors and similar number of directors, to be taken as experts. However, this restructuring will not change the current identity of DVC as of now.
Speaking about capacity addition, Mr Sen said in the 11th Plan period DVC is adding 5,200 MW though some plants are unable to begin commercial generation due to shortage of coal. While in the forthcoming 12th Plan period the corporation had firmed up 1,820 MW, another 3,200 MW will be added subject to availability of coal linkage. Sen said the corporation had drawn up plans to harness its potential in tourism which will help employment opportunity in their command area.
