
TATA Power Club Enerji informs and educates students through national quiz as part of World Energy Conservation Week celebrations
Club Enerji (formerly known as TATA Power Energy Club) TATA Power’s nationwide energy conservation movement, held its Grand Finale in Mumbai for the nationwide hunt for the next Energy Q Champions as part of World Energy Conservation Week celebrations.
The National TATA Power Club Enerji Energy Q Champions were announced and felicitated, in Mumbai. Of the 200 schools and 70,000 students that participated in the preliminary round, 4 schools made it to the finals. St Mary’s English School, Malad, Dr S Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya, Malad, Happy Model School, Delhi and Delhi Public School, Dwarka, Delhi were the four teams that qualified for the Grand Finale. After an intense competition between the schools, team comprising Abhay Baiju, Devansh Gautam and Bhuvesh Mehendiratta from Delhi Public School, Dwarka, Delhi emerged as the winners of the quiz contest held at KC College, Mumbai.
Energy-Q 2011, the national quiz competition saw participation from more than seventy thousand students across 190 schools from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Ahemdabad and Kolkata. Quizzers from Classes VII and VIII from these cities went through five grueling rounds of quizzing - preliminary written round, city knock out rounds, inter-city quarter final round, semi final and Grand Finale - to lay their claim on the Energy-Q trophy!
Club Enerji’s Energy-Q 2011 is a test of the awareness levels of students sensitized by the company in the area of energy conservation, climate change and resource conservation. 36 teams - 3 from Delhi 2 from Pune, 2 from Ahmedabad, 1 from Bangalore and Kolkata each and 27 schools from Mumbai competed in the Quarter Final round on 14th December 2011 at Maharashtra Nature Park, Sion, to qualify for the 12 precious berths in the Semi Final round.
Embraced by schools, students, Principals and heads of educational institutions, “The Energy Conservation program- Club Enerji” touched a new milestone by creating the right platform to test young minds for the next level and thereby kick-starting ‘Energy- Q Quiz’, an all-India, inter-city quiz contest to challenge young minds on their Energy Quotient.
Speaking on this initiative, Mr Anil Sardana MD said that "Global Warming and Climate change is a reality today. There is an urgent need to educate and bridge the gap for simpler and easier energy conservation practices. Club Enerji is a platform which is fast gaining acceptance and thereby making the next generation more aware of this situation. Energy-Q seeks to impart knowledge and information on energy conservation, climate change, global warming and resource conservation while testing young minds in a challenging, fun and engaging manner.”
