
ET reported that ministry of environment and forests gave green signal to Ratle Hydro Electric Project Pvt Ltd, a GVK Group company, to increase it power project capacity from 690 MW to 850 MW.
Ratle Hydro Electric Project, which is constructing the project on Chenab River in Kishwar District of Jammu and Kashmir, is expected to commence operations in the year 2017 and it will provide 16% of its output to the state of Jammu and Kashmir free of any charge.
MOEF said in its web site that "After a detailed deliberation, the Committee recommended approval for revision of capacity from 690 MW to 850 MW for the project.”
It further said that "It was suggested that a comparison of muck generated and to be disposed off for 690 MW & 850 MW may be submitted to the Ministry.”
GVK earlier informed the MOEF that the necessity of revision of installed capacity was mainly due to the revised water flow series approved by Central Water Commission.
