Mr AP Choudhary CMD of RINL Visakhapatnam Steel Plant called upon the employees to inculcate and evolve new work culture in the expansion units so as to emerge as a trend setter in the Indian Steel Industry. Commitment and discipline among employees are vital for achieving the new work culture.

While addressing the largely attended senior officers of RINL on the occasion of New Year in Ukkunagaram, Mr Choudhary announced amidst applause that RINL has emerged as the No 2 Company in Ministry of Steel with respect to turnover which is a true reflection of our growth.

However, Ministry Of Steel has set new targets particularly with respect to techno-economics such as, below 5.8 Gcals of specific energy consumption, +2 levels of BF productivity, below 480 KGs Coke rate, +100 KG Coal dust injection in BFs, etc. He said that there have been many achievements in 2011 like best ever turnover, growth in hot metal production, reduction in specific energy consumption, reduction in fuel rate, improvement in growth in our net profits, etc.

The RINL CMD congratulated the entire work force for achieving excellence in all parameters for which the Ministry of Steel recognized RINL’s efficiency during the last several years. Mr Choudhary outlined the major challenges ahead during 2012 such as generation of above INR 3000 crores towards redemption of INR 1500 crores to Government towards Preferential Equity by April 1st 2012 and capital investment of around INR 1500 to INR 2000 crores. The integrated Commissioning of 6.3 million tonne per annum Expansion during 4th Qtr of current fiscal so as to start the production of Hot Metal, Liquid Steel and Saleable Steel during next two months.

To get the next phase of Expansion approved and emerge as one of the fastest growing Companies amongst PSUs is another major challenge, he added. On the R&D front, the blue print has already been drawn and we need to implement it as quickly as possible which would go a long way in enabling our growth.
