
Business Line reported that four persons suffered serious burn injuries at a minor fire at Haldia refinery of IndianOil this afternoon.
According to sources, the injured were reportedly working for a contractor, engaged by the oil major, for maintenance of a product tank within the refinery premises at Haldia, a little over 100 km away from Kolkata.
While confirmations are not available from IndianOil, company insiders say that the injured persons were shifted to a private hospital in Kolkata.
According to sources, the fire broke out at around 1.20 PM at a pipeline carrying diesel to tank no 706, injuring labourers engaged in maintenance work at the adjacent tank No 705. The fire was brought under control by 1.45 PM.
Mr S Ganguli executive director (Haldia refinery) said he had no knowledge of any such incident he said that “I am in Kolkata. I am not aware of any such incident.”
Other senior officials also could not confirm the news.
