Gujarat Maritime Board has been acknowledged as the Indian Maritime Newsmaker of the Year at an award function organized. The award was presented to Mr Pankaj Kumar vice chairman and CEO of GMB by Mr K Mohandas secretary in the ministry of shipping.

The awards had 14 categories, for which 93 nominations were received. GMB participated in the Indian Maritime Newsmaker of the Year category based on its strength and the progress achieved in the Gujarat port sector under the leadership of the state’s Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi.

Indian Maritime Newsmaker of the Year award is an individual award for which nominations were invited from people/organizations across ports, shipping and logistics industries who were in the news in 2008-09 for reasons such as major business deals, acquisitions, mergers, new projects, policy changes etc which made a major impact in their business and the industry.
