
The Union Government has reportedly given in principle approval to the Kumharia site in Fatehabad district of Haryana for setting up of a light water reactor based nuclear power project.
According to sources, Haryana Power Generation Corporation is likely to be the nodal agency for this 2800 MW project on behalf of the state government.
The project is likely to require 2500 acre and may entail an investment of INR 25000 crore.
Nuclear Power Corporation of India now plans to move to the next stage for acquisition of land and pre-project activities.
