The government today invited applications for the post of chairman and managing director of the state owned trading giant MMTC.
The ministry said in a public announcement that "Applications are invited from eligible officers in central/state government, central/state public sector undertakings and private sector for the post of chairman and managing director of MMTC.”
The government had appointed a search committee under Commerce Secretary Mr Rahul Khullar, which had been scouting for a suitable candidate to fill the top post in the company.
In July last year, Additional Secretary in the Commerce Ministry Vijay Laxmi Joshi had taken over as CMD of the company, replacing HS Mann. She assumed the new responsibility as an additional charge till a regular CMD is appointed or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
MMTC, a leading importer of gold and silver, is under the administrative control of the Commerce and Industry Ministry.
