
Greenpeace to release a report on August 1st 2012 over threat to wildlife in Odisha due to coal mining.
On this regard Wildlife Society of Orissa and Greenpeace India are jointly holding a press conference on the threat to forests and wildlife in Odisha due to coal mining operations and its related infrastructure. The press conference aims to share the findings of a recent study conducted by Greenpeace India to assess the potential threat to biodiversity posed by expanding coal mining in Central India.
The speakers including Mr Biswajit Mohanty, General Secretary, Wildlife Society of Orissa and Mr Ashish Fernandes, Campaigner, Greenpeace would highlight the impact of mining in Talcher and Ib valley coalfields and the implications on biodiversity in the region.
