The Statesman reported that the apparent tussle between Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys and the elected municipal body of Choudwar has turned public with employees of the company registering their protests against anti industry activities caused by undesirable political elements.
The global recession, which has hit the metal market has already put tremendous pressure on the IMFA plant at Choudwar. Over and above this, the company is now facing serious administrative problems due to a cynical environment created by some political elements, decried the employees in a petition to the district administration.
As per report, transportation and material movement has fallen into hands of destructive elements that are monopolizing the system and adulterating the peaceful economic and social coexistence of both industry and its environment, they charged.
They alleged that workers in the industrial hub are systematically demoralized by these elements. Transportation of material is often jeopardized and everybody on the street is held to ransom.
Reliable sources said the tussle is a fallout of bitter infighting with the ruling BJD. Locals of Choudwar said that IMFA was wittingly or unwittingly linked to the municipal election campaign wherein it was perceived to be waging a battle against an individual who in turn was backed by a superpower within the BJD.
