BL reported that the CPI(M) has alleged that the management of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has pushed the company to heavy losses due to its ‘lopsided’ policies even as the INTUC announced its full support to the strike by VSP employees to press for immediate wage revision.
All union meeting was held on Saturday after which INTUC released a pamphlet in support of the strike.
Mr N Ramachandra Rao deputy general secretary of Visakha Steel Employees’ Congress and INTUC leader said workers interest is their top priority. He said “Our union has decided to take an active part in the strike though it was called by Visakha Steel Workers Union, the recognized union, in which INTUC is not a constituent.”
Mr Narsinga Rao district secretary of CPI(M) said that because of the wrong decisions of management, the company suffered a loss of INR 600 crores by not taking steps favorable to the market during June-August, 2008.”
