Bloomberg reported that MMTC Ltd, India biggest trader of metals and minerals is seeking to import 900,000 tons of coal for NTPC-SAIL Power Co.

The state owned trader plans to buy the coal for NTPC- SAIL’s 500 megawatt power plant at Bhilai in the central state of Chhattisgarh.

The New Delhi based company said the last date for receiving bids is September 11. The first shipment is scheduled for November and deliveries ranging from 40,000 tons to 80,000 tons a month will continue until March 2014.

The coal must have a gross calorific value of 6,300 kilocalories a kilogram total moisture content of 16% and sulfur content of 0.8%.
