India plans 6 shipping projects worth INR 3300 crore

Zee News reported that the government would award 6 shipping projects worth INR 3,319.14 crore, to be developed on the PPP basis in next 100 days.

According to the 100 day agenda of the shipping ministry, the 6 projects are expected to add capacity of 31.23 million tonne and 1.97 million TEUs.

The proposed projects include plans for development of a deep draught iron ore berth and a coal berth of capacity 10 million tonne each at a cost of INR 591.35 crore and INR 479.01 crore respectively at the Paradip port.

The third project targets development of eight berths as container terminals of capacity 0.4 million TEUs at a cost of INR 312.23 crore at the Tuticorin Port in Tamil Nadu. A coal terminal at a cost of INR 252.44 crore to raise capacity to 4.61 million tonne per annum of the Mormugao port in Goa has also been proposed.

A mechanized iron ore handling facility as a back up requirement to deep draft at the multipurpose Berth No 14 would be developed at INR 277.11 crore at the New Mangalore Port in Karnataka. A container terminal would be developed for INR 1,407 crore having capacity of 1.5 M TEU at the Ennore Port.
