It is reported that Indian Railways total approximate earnings on originating basis during the period October 11th to 20th 2009 were INR 2216.29 crore as compared to INR 2073.46 crore during the same period last year registering an increase of 6.89%.

The total goods earnings have gone up from INR 1388.69 crore during October 11th to 20th 2008 to INR 1521.18 crore during October 11th to 20th 2009 showing an increase of 9.54%. The total passenger revenue earnings during the period October 11th to 20th 2009 were INR 618.23 crore as compared to INR 617.20 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 0.17%.

The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to INR 59.81 crore during this period as compared to INR 52.13 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 14.73%.

The total approximate number of passengers booked during the period October 11th to 20th 2009 were 193.44 million compared to 208.04 million during the same period last year showing a decrease of 7.02%. In the suburban and non suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during October 11th to 20th 2009 were 101.34 million and 92.10 million as compared to 113.62 million and 94.42 million during the same period last year registering a decrease of 10.81% and 2.46% respectively.
