The CBI reportedly issued notices to those officials who had allocated land to the Obulapuram Mining Company and the Bellary Iron Ore Company in violation of rules in Anantapur district.
It is learnt that the notices were issued to revenue and forest officials who had worked at D Hirehal in the district from 2003 to 2008 one week ago.
Railway lines and dumping yards established by the BIOP and the OMC in violation of rules had created furore at that time. It is reportedly learnt in the CBI inquiry that local revenue and forest officials had helped the two companies in constructing these railway lines and dumping yards.
The BIOP had laid a railway line in 10 acres. The railway line was laid in survey Nos. 67, 69, 72 and 73 in Obulapuram panchayat.
The OMC had also laid a railway line in 12 acres of land. The railway line was constructed in survey Nos. 61 and 62 in Obulapuram panchayat. In addition to the railway line, the BIP had also set up dumping yard in 15 acres in survey No. 74. Officials had allocated 12 acres in survey No. 63 to the OMC for establishing dumping yard. The BIOP and the OMC had laid railway lines in 2007 and used land on both sides of railway lines as dumping yards.
The CBI reportedly questioned the allocation of land to the two companies for the railway line and dumping yard.
It questioned officials based on what GO they had permitted the companies to construct railway line and dumping yards. A revenue inspector who had worked at D Hirehal at that time already died. Notices were also reportedly issued to several revenue, forest and mining department officials at district level.
