TNN reported that the CBI on Monday raided Deccan Mining Company in Bellary and residences of the company owner Mr Rajendra Jain, BJP Koodligi MLA Mr Nagendra and former forest officer Mr Muttaiah.
The CBI got hold of key documents and transactions between Deccan mining company and Obulapuram Mining Corporation owned by former Karnataka minister Mr Gali Janardana Reddy.
The CBI also raided Associated Minining Company owned by Mr Gali Janardana Reddy's wife Mr Laxmi Aruna and questioned her for about one hour.
The Koodligi MLA Mr Nagendra is known to be close to the Reddy brothers and allegedly having business links in Bellary.
The forest officers who have worked in Devangere and Chitradurga are also under the CBI scanner.
The raids are being conducted by the CBI Karnataka wing since the CBI was directed by the Supreme Court to investigate the alleged illegal mining in Karnataka state also.
The CBI is preparing to file an additional FIR in Bengaluru against Gali Janardana Reddy and his associates. Mr Gali Janardhana Reddy, who was tourism minister in Karnataka during Yeddyurappa government, was arrested from here along with Mr BV Srinivas Reddy MD of the Obulapuram Mining Company, on September 5th 2011 on the charges of illegal mining in Andhra Pradesh. Both have been in Hyderabad's Chanchalaguda jail since then. The CBI sources said that a separate case will be filled in Karnataka against Gali and his associates very soon. The CBI will request the court in Bengaluru for the custody of Mr Gali Janardana Reddy and Mr BV Srinivasa Reddy as the AP court did not entertain the CBI petition for extension of custody.
