Express News Service reported that High Court on Wednesday dismissed the bail application moved by suspended IAS officer Ms Y Srilakshmi, an accused in the iron ore mining case.

Justice Samudrala Govindarajulu, in his order, cited the Sanjay Chandra case where the Supreme Court had categorically observed that the court had to go by facts and circumstances of that particular case available at that point of time while considering the bail plea of a particular accused. In the present case, further investigation was pending. In case the petitioner was granted bail at this stage there was every possibility of interference to further investigation in the case, he observed.

The judge said there was a prima facie case against the accused. In the supplementary chargesheet the CBI stated that during investigation it came to light that the brother-in-law of the accused, M Rakesh Babu, acquired many properties durin 2005-2009. The state government has recently accorded sanction to the CBI to prosecute Srilakshmi who is charged with illegally favouring the OMC owned by Gali Janardhan Reddy.

Several bail applications filed by her have been dismissed by various courts since her arrest on November 28 last year.
