Global financial meltdown, job losses and problems of contract labor would figure prominently at the next session of the Indian Labor Conference to be held early next year.

The 43rd session of the Standing Labour Committee which advises Government about principles and policies in the field of labor identified these issues for detailed discussion in the upcoming conference.

A representative who attended the standing committee meeting said that employment generation and skill development would be the other issue figuring prominently at the conference.

Representatives from central trade unions, employers and state government delegates attended the day long meeting.

The meeting also reviewed the action taken report on the conclusions arrived at the 42nd Session of the Indian Labour Conference held in February this year.

On the occasion, Labor and Employment Minister Mallikarjun Kharge also indicated some improvement in the employment scenario in the country which has been hard hit by the global financial crisis.
