
Mr Jitin Prasada minister of state of road transport and highways informed the Lok Sabha that union government proposes to re structure National Highways Authority of India with a view to making the country's roads and Highways Development Program more efficient.
To enhance the capacity of the Authority and to allow induction of professionals in the field of finance and management, approval of the Cabinet has been sought to amend the National Highways Authority of India Act, 1988 to increase the number of full time members from five to six, part time members from four to six and to sanction additional six posts of chief general manager technical.
The government also proposes to bring specialists from the private sector in this connection.
Mr Prasada said that a proposal is under consideration of the government. The government is considering to amend the rules in this regard and action has been initiated to amend the Recruitment Regulations in consultation with the Ministry of Law & Justice.
