Project Today reported that Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust is expected to develop an SEZ for the port on 276 hectare near Belpada Karal villages on the Panvel Uran road.

JNPT has conducted a feasibility study of the proposed SEZ and has sent the same to the Union Government for approval.

The INR 3000 crore SEZ is likely to comprise both processing and non processing units to meet the requirements of not only JNPT but also the proposed airport coming up near Navi Mumbai.
