
ET reported that Jindal Steel and Power Limited is aiming to commission new facilities with capacity of 3 million tonnes by the end of the next financial year.
Mr V R Sharma deputy MD & CEO for Steel Business of JSPL told reporters that this includes commissioning of the first unit of its upcoming steel mill in Odisha's Angul with a capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum.
Besides this, another 1 million tonnes per annum new steel unit will be added to company's existing 3 million tonnes per annum capacity in Chhattisgarh Raigarh by the end of 2013-14.
Moreover, the company's another green field steel mill at Jharkhand Patratu, having a 3 million tonnes per annum capacity, is expected to be commissioned in 2013-14.
Mr Sharma added that "By 2015, our target is to have a total steel making capacity of 15 million tonnes per annum that includes increasing the Shadeed plant at Oman to 2 million tonnes per annum All the plants are under construction and the new units will get commissioned from the next financial year onwards.”
The Odisha steel plant has envisaged steel production capacity of 6 million tonnes per annum in the first phase, with an estimated investment of INR 30,000 crore.
