The media had reports that JFE Steel may pick up stake in an integrated steel plant of JSW Steel Limited.

The exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the company.

JSW Steel Limited has vide its letter inter alia stated "The company had entered into strategic collaboration agreement on November 19th 2009 with JFE Steel Corporation which includes project for building and operating an integrated steel production facility in West Bengal. The company will be taking up active implementation of West Bengal Project on receipt of requisite approvals. Even though JFE has shown interest to participate in the project, the company will decide on the subject at appropriate time."
