
Jaypee Group firm Jaiprakash Hydro Power has plans to add 2,000 MW power generation capacity comprising hydro and thermal in the current five year plan period ending 2012.
Mr Jaiprakash Gaur founder chairman of Jaiprakash said that “Jaiprakash Hydro Power will be the only company in private sector which will contribute 2,000 MW in the 11th plan to the nation.”
He added that it has a total capacity of 300 MW. It has a hydro power plant in Himachal Pradesh. The company has plans to add over 13,520 MW with a mix of thermal and hydro in less than seven years from now adding that the company's 1,000 MW Karcham Wangtoo project in Himachal Pradesh would be implemented by 2011.
Mr Gaur said that “In addition, with 3,200 MW projects coming up in Arunachal Pradesh and 720 MW in Meghalaya, the Group will have total hydro power generation capacity of over 5,000 MW by 2016.”
The company projects to have 2,300 MW of generation capacity with a 77:23 hydro and thermal mix by 2012.
