
After a two week long stalemate, the Kerala government finally said the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation would be fully entrusted with the work of Kochi metro.
This was announced by chief minister Mr Oommen Chandy after a meeting of the state planning board, in which Mr E Sreedharan is also a member, at Thiruvananthapuram.
In a joint press conference, Mr Chandy said Mr Sreedharan would lead the implementation of the project and the state would try to have him at the helm of affairs of Kochi Metro Rail Limited the newly formed company for the purpose.
He would also assist the road infrastructure projects of the state and the proposed high speed railway corridor.
Mr Sreedharan said the work would be completed in three years once all clearances were received. He would associate with the project in his capacity as adviser to DMRC.
Mr Sreedharan also expressed his willingness to join KMRL as its chairman.
