Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited has achieved an all time high sales turnover of INR 306 Crores as against INR 255 crores the previous year and a Profit Before Tax of INR 60 crores for the financial year 2008-09. This Defense Public Sector Undertaking declared as a Mini Ratna during the year has orders valued over INR 700 crores of which orders worth INR 428 Crores were booked during the year.

Mr M Narayana Rao CMD said that the Company has embarked upon a massive modernization and up gradation program partly funded by its strategic customers and from its own internal resources to meet the hi-tech special materials requirements of the Department of Space, Atomic Energy, Defence, Aeronautics and the General Engineering industries.

Midhani has contributed for the “CHANDRAYAN” and Moon Impact Probe and is gearing up to meet the special material needs for the ambitious ‘Human in Space program’ for the Department of Space. The company has also embarked upon the development of Low activated Ferritic-Martensitic Steels for the futuristic International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor program of Department of Atomic Energy thus making India as one of the 7 countries that has this capability.

The overall performance during the year would enable the Company to achieve “EXCELLENT” MoU Rating for the sixth year in a row and pay dividend to the Government for the sixth consecutive year and strengthened the Mini Ratna status conferred.
