Mundra Port and Special Economic Zone a private multi port operator that is part of the Adani group, has changed its name to Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone.

The company has received the requisite certificate from the Registrar of Companies of Gujarat, registering the change in name. This has been necessitated due to the change in the profile of the business as well as the ownership of the company.

Mr Gautam Adani chairman of the Adani group said that "The rationale for renaming Mundra Port as Adani Port is to achieve the last mile brand synergy with the global port infrastructure business of the Group.”

He added it provided an identity to the port business of the group.

While earlier MPSEZ had only one operational port at Mundra, it now operated a port at Dahej and at Abbot Point in Australia and was also developing ports at Hazira, Mormugao and Visakhapatnam.
