
Maersk India on December 2nd 2009 inaugurated its state of the art container freight station at Ponneri in Chennai close to the Ennore Port. The facility will provide storage and stripping of laden import containers and consolidation of export cargo. It also has a warehousing capacity of 3000 square meter with over 6000 square meter of dedicated trailer parking facility.
This is Maersk’s fourth CFS in India. The CFS is spread across 30 acres, with the first phase of operations covering 12 acres.
Mr Hans-Henrik Skonning Hansen South Asia Cluster Manager said that "Minimizing environmental impact and ensuring market leading safety standards has been, and remains, our focus areas. We have created this facility with complete care for the environment and safety standards. We will continue to add value to our customers’ supply chain in a socially responsible manner."
