Maoist rebels triggered a landmine blast at a captive iron ore mine of state run Steel Authority of India Ltd in the eastern province of Jharkhand early Friday.
Mr VD Ram state's director general of police also recovered a landmine at SAIL's Kiriburu mine, located near the Meghataburu mine where the explosion occurred in Jharkhand's Chaibasa district.
He said that "There have been no casualties from the landmine blast at Meghataburu.”
The Meghataburu iron ore mine has an annual capacity of 4.3 million metric tons and mainly supplies the company's Bokaro steel plant.
Mr PC Tibrewal executive director of SAIL's raw materials division said that "There has been a blast, damaging our conveyor structure. So we are not in a position to load iron ore on railway rakes.”
Another executive with the company said the blast has damaged the bend pulley conveyor system which is used for loading iron ore into railway wagons.
He added that "It will take at least a couple of days for us to repair the structure.”
