TNN reported that less than a few hundred metres from the landmark Chitrakote waterfall in Chattisgarh, a group of Maoists blew up an under construction police post on Monday but no one was injured.
Mr P Sundarraj SP of Bastar said that “The construction workers sleeping in the building were asked to move out before the Maoists planted explosive devices.”
According to eyewitnesses, Maoists left pamphlets at the spot, expressing their opposition to the upcoming TATA Steel plant.
The company plans to set up a 5.5 million tonne per annum steel plant at Lohandiguda, 10 kilometers from Chitrakote, but has been facing resistance from adivasi farmers unwilling to part with land.
But IG police Mr TJ Longkumer claimed the police found no such pamphlets.
