The slush and sludge after the downpour of past 3 weeks seemed to be clearing off in the last 2 days with a rally in pencil ingot prices, although the rebar prices are yet to reflect the percolation at least it gave a straw to clutch.
Although the monsoon is in its thick the momentary reprieve can be termed as a typical sea saw when the manufacturers spew when they cannot chew more than they can digest. Objectively its can not be taken as any revival trend. Moreover since most of the mills are expected to reduce price for long products in July the sentiments are sullen obviating any chance of sustainable revival.
The July prices will be clear next week giving some direction to the market in the short term.
Flat products also continued on negative trends last week.
The Indian Long Product Price Index ILPPI continued in downward trend with 25 points last week whereas Indian Flat Products Index IFPPI also has gone down by 33 points. The overall price index INDSPI declined by 29 points.
