Indian steel market continued to defy the global trends last week as both long products and flats posted major gains.
The positive sentiment is being attributed to
1. Slight recovery in demand post rains
2. Expectation of boost by festive mood
3. Power cuts hitting production
4. Iron ore shortages
The Indian Long Product Price Index ILPPI continued in upward trends with 179 points last week whereas Indian Flat Products Index IFPPI has also gone up by 102 points. The overall price index INDSPI inclined by 143 points.
