Sponge iron maker Monnet Ispat said that its net profit rose by 0.40% to INR 82.06 crore for the quarter ended September 30th 2009 over the same period last fiscal.

Monnet Ispat in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange said that its total income of the company however declined by 21.44% to INR 313.98 crore in the July to September quarter of this fiscal from the same period last financial year.

The filing added that during the quarter, the company had shut down a 45 MW turbine for 36 days and a 37.5 MW turbine for 14 days for undertaking repairs and routine maintenance, which impacted power generation during the quarter.
