
It is reported that Mr B K Singh vice president of TATA Steel has been elected as the president of Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The other office-bearers of the body are Mr Ramesh Mahapatra vice president, Mr Khalid Ahmad honorary secretary and Mr S S Mishra treasurer.
In his address as the new president of UCCI, Mr Singh said that along with promoting trade, commerce, industry and services in Orissa with a view to strengthen and expand economic activity in the state, the UCCI would foster just, equitable and globally competitive business environment compatible with free enterprise of the new millennium.
Mr Singh said that with a special thrust on creation of employability through SME development, UCCI would also invite government’s partnership in developing industries in the state. He further expressed that his interest in creating a data bank for all the industries present in Orissa, which will help the people for business expansions as part of current year’s agenda. The new office bearers of UCCI were sworn-in during the 45th AGM held at UCCI office.
